The short version

GearSmith runs entirely in your browser. Your gearbox designs, motor settings, tolerances, and exported files are generated on your device and are never uploaded to our servers. We do not require an account and we do not collect personal information.

1. Information we do not collect

We do not collect, store, or transmit your designs, parameters, exported STEP/STL files, bills of materials, names, email addresses, or payment information. There are no user accounts.

2. Information collected automatically

GearSmith is hosted on Vercel. Like most hosting providers, Vercel processes standard server logs when your browser requests the site — IP address, browser type (user agent), requested pages, and timestamps — for security and operational purposes. These logs are governed by Vercel's privacy policy. Harbegold LLC does not combine these logs with any other data or use them to identify you.

3. Cookies and local storage

GearSmith does not set tracking cookies and does not use advertising or analytics identifiers. If we later store your in-progress design in your browser's local storage for convenience, that data stays on your device and can be cleared through your browser settings.

4. Third-party services

The site is served by Vercel Inc. (hosting/CDN). No other third-party scripts, trackers, fonts, or beacons are loaded.

5. Children

GearSmith is a general-audience engineering tool and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children under 13.

6. Changes to this policy

If GearSmith adds features that change what data is processed (for example, accounts, saved cloud designs, or payments), this policy will be updated before those features launch, with the effective date above revised.
